The Best AI Tools for Car Dealerships in 2027

Ranked on one question: does the tool do the work, or just report on it? We make one of the tools on this list, so we show how we scored it and where a competitor is the better fit.

how we ranked

Ranked on whether it does the work

Disclosure: Dealer Data One makes Astra, which we ranked first. We scored every tool on the same five criteria, using each vendor's own public materials as of October 2026. We haven't run every product in a store, and where another tool is the better fit for your problem, we say so.

Criterion
What we checked
Why it matters
Does the work
Whether the product acts on what it finds, or stops at a report or a chat answer.
Most dealers already have dashboards. The waste stays because nobody acts on them.
Scope
How many channels and systems it covers: ads, SEO, website, listings, CRM, DMS, phones.
A tool can only reason about what it can see.
Published pricing
Whether the price is on the website or only in a quote.
Published prices make it easier to compare total cost.
Contract terms
Whether the term and cancellation policy are stated publicly.
Long terms lock you in before you can judge results.
Data ownership
Whether the dealer owns and can export the data.
Your history is worth real money if you ever switch.

#1 · Managed execution

Astra by Dealer Data One

  • What it does: Watches your ads, listings, website, inventory and spend every day, and Astra and the DD1 team do the work across ads on every platform you use, SEO, website changes, business listings and creative.
  • Best for: Stores where marketing breaks for weeks before anyone notices, or where nobody has the hours to run it.
  • Pricing: $3,000 per rooftop per month, published. Month to month. No fee on ad spend. You own your data.
  • Watch for: We're the newest and smallest company on this list. Astra doesn't answer customer leads, and it isn't a DMS or CRM.

#2 · Customer-facing AI suite

Impel

  • What it does: Calls itself an AI operating system, with sales, chat, voice, service, marketing and merchandising AI. It became TrueCar's strategic AI partner in February 2026.
  • Best for: Groups that want one broad suite for customer conversations and merchandising.
  • Pricing: Not published.
  • Watch for: It reports 8,000+ dealers and OEMs. With that many modules, ask exactly which ones your quote includes.

#3 · Customer data platform

Fullpath

  • What it does: An automotive CDP that unifies CRM, DMS, website and ad data for audiences and campaigns, plus an agentic CRM that launched in beta in January 2026.
  • Best for: Stores with plenty of data and no coordinated way to act on it across channels.
  • Pricing: Not published.
  • Watch for: Cox Automotive completed its acquisition of Fullpath in June 2026. If you run non-Cox systems, ask how that affects your roadmap.

#4 · Lead response

Matador

  • What it does: AI agents for lead outreach, calls, chat and follow-up, with one inbox across channels. Reports 1,500+ dealerships.
  • Best for: Stores where leads sit unanswered. Stellantis made several Matador agents eligible for full co-op reimbursement in August 2026.
  • Pricing: Not published.
  • Watch for: It works the leads you have. It doesn't run the marketing that creates them.

#5 · Voice and fixed ops

Numa

  • What it does: Voice AI for inbound calls, appointments and a unified inbox, built from fixed ops. It reports 1,300+ dealerships and bought Ficus in April 2026 to expand into sales.
  • Best for: Service drives where the phones go unanswered.
  • Pricing: Not published. Numa says go-live takes two to three weeks.
  • Watch for: Check how much of the sales side is live today versus newly added.

#6 · Messaging and booking

Podium

  • What it does: Messaging plus an AI employee, Jerry, that answers and books conversations. Jerry 2.0 added customizable agents for dealers in January 2026.
  • Best for: Answering and booking the conversations already coming in.
  • Pricing: Not published. The AI employee is an add-on to Podium's plans.
  • Watch for: Podium serves many industries, so ask how much of the product is built for dealers.

#7 · CRM-native AI

DriveCentric

  • What it does: A dealership CRM with built-in AI agents, including a Service-to-Sales agent scheduled for general availability in August 2026.
  • Best for: Stores that want AI inside the CRM their salespeople already use.
  • Pricing: Not published.
  • Watch for: CRM-native AI sees CRM data. It can't tell you your ad feed broke.

#8 · AI search visibility

Car Genius AI

  • What it does: Exposes your inventory and DMS data to AI assistants through an MCP server, and adds AI search to your website.
  • Best for: Stores that want their inventory readable by AI shoppers.
  • Pricing: Published. MCP only is free, and paid tiers run from $200 to $800 a month.
  • Watch for: It makes your data available. Someone still has to fix the website and SEO work that shapes the answer.

Common questions

Dealership AI tools: common questions

What is the best AI tool for a car dealership?

The one that fixes where your store actually loses money. For slow lead response, a tool like Matador, Numa or Podium. For marketing nobody has time to run, managed execution like Astra. Diagnose the leak before you shop.

Of the tools on this list, only Car Genius AI and Dealer Data One publish prices on their websites as of October 2026. The rest ask dealers to request a quote.

Is Fullpath part of Cox Automotive?

Yes. Cox Automotive announced the acquisition in April 2026 and completed it in June 2026.

Can an AI tool replace a dealership's marketing agency?
