how we sorted them
An agent acts without being asked
Disclosure: Dealer Data One makes Astra, ranked first. We ranked each agent on how much of the dealership it can see and act on, using each vendor's public descriptions as of October 2026. We haven't tested every product, so ask each vendor for a dated example of something it did on its own.
#1 · Marketing operations agent
Astra by Dealer Data One
- Where it acts: Your ads, SEO, website, business listings and creative. Astra watches them every day, flags what changed, and executes or queues the fix, with our team doing the hands-on work.
- Talks to customers: No. Astra works on your marketing, not your inbound leads.
- Pricing: Included in Fully Managed at $3,000 per rooftop per month, month to month.
- Watch for: We're the newest company here. Ask us for a dated example too.
#2 · DMS agents
Tekion
- Where it acts: Inside Tekion's DMS. It launched AI agents in March 2025 and showed Scheduler AI and Technician AI at NADA 2026.
- Best for: Stores already on, or moving to, Tekion.
- Watch for: It works inside Tekion's platform, so check what it can see from outside systems like your ad accounts.
#3 · DMS agents
Reynolds and Reynolds
- Where it acts: Across the Reynolds Retail Management System. Reynolds introduced its Rey AI agent in January 2026, built on its Spark AI data layer.
- Best for: Reynolds stores that want AI in the system they already run.
- Watch for: Ask which actions Rey can take on its own today and which still need a person.
#4 · CRM agents
DriveCentric
- Where it acts: In the CRM, through its Agent Hub. Its Service-to-Sales agent was scheduled for general availability in August 2026.
- Best for: Turning service visits and CRM records into sales follow-up.
- Watch for: CRM agents see CRM data, not your ads, listings or website.
#5 · CRM and data agents
Fullpath
- Where it acts: On top of its customer data platform. Fullpath launched an agentic CRM in beta in January 2026 and is now part of Cox Automotive.
- Best for: Data-rich stores that want audiences and follow-up driven by unified data.
- Watch for: The CRM was in beta as of early 2026, so confirm what's generally available.
#6 · Customer-facing agents
Impel, Matador and Podium
- Where they act: In conversations with shoppers and service customers: texts, chat, calls and email. Podium added customizable dealer agents with Jerry 2.0 in January 2026.
- Best for: Stores where leads and calls go unanswered.
- Watch for: Customer-facing agents need AI disclosure and a fast handoff to a person, and they don't run your marketing.
Also worth a look: VinSolutions introduced its next-generation AI virtual assistant in January 2026, and CDK showed its AIVA assistant at NADA 2026.

Common questions
Dealership AI agents: common questions
What is an AI agent for a car dealership?
Software that notices something needs attention and acts on it, or queues the action for approval, without someone asking first. A tool that only answers questions when you open it is an assistant, not an agent.
How do I tell a real AI agent from a chatbot?
Ask the vendor to show you something the system did in the last 30 days that no person asked it to do. A real agent has a dated example. A chatbot has a demo of someone typing a question.
Should an AI agent talk to my customers?
It can, and lead response agents are the most mature category. Evaluate them separately from operations agents, with clear AI disclosure and a fast handoff to a person.
Do AI agents need approval to spend money?
They should. Budget changes and price drops should wait for a person to approve them. Reversible fixes, like correcting a listing's hours, can run on their own once you've watched the agent get them right.
Your dealership, finally running on true intelligence.
Astra and the DD1 team run your ads, SEO, website, listings and creative for one flat price per rooftop. Month to month, and your data stays yours.
